Here's a picture from my first trip; I spent $26.45 and saved $25.98.
The total was a bit higher than I would have liked, but that's mainly due to the $6.59 I spent on the Boston Butt roast ($1.79/lb.) The best deal was the three Bertolli pasta sauces which cost $.43 each (on sale B1G1 free and I had 3 $1 off coupons).
After following my healthy eating series this week and noting my attempts to avoid processed foods, I'm sure you're questioning the Hamburger Helper and Velveeta Shells and Cheese. (Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day!:-) These are primarily for quick lunches to be put in the girls' thermos and taken to school.
By some strange twist of fate, my oldest likes Hamburger Helper. Instead of buying the individual packets like I sometimes do, I bought the regular-size box (on sale for $.99). I will make it up with just a little bit of hamburger (she mainly likes the pasta and sauce), then freeze it in individual-size portions that can be defrosted and reheated on school mornings.
My second trip was a bit better; I spent $21.49 and saved $23.74.
This time I had the printable coupon for $1.50 off two Velveeta Shells and Cheese, bringing their cost down to $.25 apiece. I also had the $1 off three Muellers pasta which, with the B1G1 free sale, made them $.31 a box. And, no I don't drink the Publix soft drinks; they're for my husband.
While I spent a bit more at Publix this week than I usually do, I was able to stock up on some items that should save me more in the long run.
Lots of folks are saving more than I do! You can read about them at Super Savings Saturday, Shopping Superstars, Friday Finals, I Heart Publix, Publix Super Savers, Saving Our Cents Saturday and Grocery Cart Challenge.
Good deals! I just love to see peoples real pictures of what they got and then see how awesome their deals are!
ReplyDeleteGlad to know I am not the only one who fears running out of milk! My kids might just have a breakdown if they woke up one morning and couldn't have their chocky (as Ali would say) milk.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteHello there! Love your blog! I stumbled across it while Googling some info on Babywise. (Great review on the book, BTW) Congrats on the bargain-finding! I miss shopping in the States. Stores here don't have specials like I used to find, but the produce is better here. I guess it's a trade-off!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!
