Take It To The Lord In Prayer

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." ~Philippians 4:6

God is good.

Despite our air conditioner working only sporadically for a couple of days - during the hottest weekend I remember in a long time - it has run enough to keep us cool.

As I thanked the Lord for that in my prayer time yesterday, I realized how often I still fail to make prayer my first resort.

When the girls and I returned from grocery shopping on Friday and I saw that the thermostat was showing two degrees warmer than it should be, what were my first thoughts?
How can we fix this?
Who should we call?
How much will it cost?
How I want to grow spiritually to the point where my first thought is to pray - for direction, for wisdom, for the best solution.

While I lament my failing in one area, let me not fail to count my blessings - which include a husband who has a talent for working on things around the house and a friend who repairs air conditioners and was willing to stop by twice over the weekend to look at it!

  1. I'm so glad that you were able to stay cool in spite of the heat - and I agree, learning to pray first and worry second is something that I'm working on as well!

  2. I do the same thing. I forget to talk to God about my worries or thank Him for His blessings. You're not alone; I'm growing in this area as well.
