I'll See Him There
My husband and I have probably attended more funerals in the last year than we have in the previous twenty-one years of our marriage combined, including one just last month.
While we are still relatively young, I'm finding that these pauses to mark the passing of others draws my mind to thoughts on the brevity of life and the promise of heaven. From the few glimpses of heaven we're given in the Bible, we can tell that it will be more amazing than anything we can imagine.
As these years go by, heaven is being populated more and more with people I know and love. What a joyous reunion will take place one day! Ultimately, though, it is Jesus our Savior that we most want to see.
There is coming a day,
When no heart aches shall come,
No more clouds in the sky,
No more tears to dim the eye,
All is peace forever more,
On that happy golden shore,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
There'll be no sorrow there,
No more burdens to bear,
No more sickness, no pain,
No more parting over there;
And forever I will be,
With the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be

May we rejoice today that heaven is our home and our Lord awaits us there!

I've been pondering that this weekend. There was a local woman who died in an accident and she was a very vocal non-believer. It struck me how sad I was to realize that she had nothing to look forward to...and I'm so grateful that as believers, we KNOW this is a stop on our way to eternal rest!
