More Blessed to Give
Giving feels good.
That shouldn't surprise me when I recall Paul and his admonition to the church to "...remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He said, It is more blessed to give than to receive." [Acts 20:35]
Recently the Lord burdened our hearts to give financially to a missionary family who had been through some difficult struggles. I believe that He was able to use it as a blessing in their lives; yet I was blessed through being able to share with them a portion of what God had given to us.
Giving isn't always financial. At times, that is the easy way out. It may be more challenging - and what God is calling us to do - to give the gift of time, to prepare a meal for another family, to take an elderly neighbor out to run their errands, or to open our home to a visiting missionary who needs a place to stay.
In my life, the blessing seems to come because giving takes my focus off of myself and puts it on others. I think that the more we give, the more we see how it truly blesses us.
My aim is to be thankful when I have an opportunity to give. I ask that I would be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and, when He touches my heart, that I would be willing to do whatever He asks.
How have you been blessed when you've given to others?

Yes, to give is a blessing. I have found that the more I give the more opportunities to give God brings my way. Also, it grows our faith. When we give sacrificially instead of out of our abundance, we become more aware of how God provides and meets our needs. I know sometimes people find giving scary. I appreciate your sharing this encouragement of the blessings of giving.
