Seek Another's Wealth

"Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth."  I Corinthians 10:24

The notes in my Bible say that "wealth" can also be translated as "advantage."  Here I find an admonition to put others first. This has been a recurring theme lately, yet I ashamedly say that I continue to struggle with it.

The words of Christ often go against what makes sense to the world. It may seem that I should look out for myself above all else. Yet I know that as I follow His command, I will find joy and peace.

I want to make this practical today. When I walk to the checkout line at the store, I needn't rush to get ahead of another shopper. If there's only one piece of chocolate left in the bag, I should give it away. If my husband or our daughters need some of my time, I can cheerfully spend it with them.

May I ask for God's help as I strive to let others have the advantage instead of myself.

  2. I never put wealth and advantage together - great food for thought!
