Encourage Her Spiritual Walk

Earlier in this series, we talked about the importance our words play in our children's lives.  We've thanked our daughter for something she's done and we've also told her that we're proud of her.

Today I want to encourage each of my daughters in their spiritual walk.  This could focus on a spiritual trait that I've noticed her developing or a particular way that I'm seeing her model Christ.

Whether it's their generosity or their faithfulness or their desire to help others, I always want to encourage my girls when I see them growing in their faith.  Maybe it's how gentle one of them is with younger children or the way she takes responsibility in organizing her room or the way she prays for people in need.  Sometime today, I plan to speak these words of encouragement to my daughters.

It would also be neat to share a Bible verse or command that she's fulfilling as she develops a certain character trait.  For example, when she obeys her dad and I, she's following Ephesians 6:1.  When she's demonstrating patience or self-control, I can show her how she's displaying the fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5:22-23.

Here are photos from my older daughter's room yesterday after I decorated with paper hearts.

I decorated her closet doors with hearts as well.

It's hard to believe that there are only a couple of days left in our series!  I'm looking forward to sharing the last two ideas for showing love to our daughters this month.

If you've missed earlier posts in this series, you can go to my 31 Days host page and catch up on all the ways we're showing love to our daughters in October!

  2. Neat idea! I try to praise my children in this way, too, although I hadn't realized that I was encouraging them in their spiritual life.

I love the idea of sharing a verse to Biblically back up our verbal encouragement!
