November Reading

With all that we had scheduled for November I didn't think I'd get much read, but I was able to squeeze in a couple of books during the last week of the month so my list doesn't look so paltry!
  • Raising Unselfish Children in a Self-Absorbed World by Jill Rigby.  This book offered some practical ideas for helping our children learn to focus on the needs of others.
  • Happier at Home by Gretchen Rubin.  I enjoyed following Gretchen's experiment as she enriched her home life by seeking to improve one area each month.
  • The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth by John C. Maxwell.  I cannot recommend this book highly enough!  If you want to grow in any area of your life, this book offers concrete steps that you can follow.  I was motivated to put several of his ideas into practice.  This is a perfect read before considering goals for the new year.  I plan to re-read this book at least twice a year.
  • Always the Baker, Never the Bride by Sandra Bricker.  This was just a light, fiction read.
  • Decorate:  1,001 Professional Design Ideas for Every Area in Your Home by Holly Becker and Joanna Copestick.
Our twelve-year-old is devouring The Little Colonel series by Annie Fellows Johnston.  My parents gave her three of the books for her birthday and we have found a number of others available for free on my Kindle.

As for our read-alouds, we've almost finished Tom Sawyer and will begin reading Dickens' A Christmas Carol.  At bedtime, we're reading The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson.

Have you read any good books lately?

  1. I plan to start reading A Christmas Carol soon, too, as soon as I finish the novel I'm reading.
