Let's Just Praise the Lord

"And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon..."  II Chronicles 20:22

In this story from the Old Testament, King Jehoshaphat and the Israelites were promised victory over their enemies.  The prophet told them that the Lord would be with them, but the Israelites had no idea how the coming battle would be won.

The people rose early in the morning and the king appointed singers to praise the Lord and lead the army as they marched off to war.  How interesting it is that the Lord began to work on behalf of His people "when they began to sing and to praise."

As we ask the Lord for help in our lives, could there be times that He waits for our praise before He begins to work?  While we may not know how a particular situation will be resolved, we can trust that He will work - and begin to praise Him for the outcome even before it happens!

We can fill our hearts with praise for God by singing songs to Him, meditating on His promises, and quoting passages from His Word that remind us of the greatness and power of our God.  We can celebrate His goodness in our lives even before we see it brought to pass.

  1. This is a great verse - and it's so true that we need to constantly praise Him, in all things!
