Focus

Focus.

That's my word for 2011.

Focus is defined as "to concentrate attention or energy on something."

There are four areas that I want to focus on in the coming months that I might make the most of the year ahead of me.

Spiritual growth. Through prayer, Bible study, Bible memorization, meditation, listening to Godly music and reading good spiritual books, I can focus on becoming the woman, wife and mother that God would have me to be.

Stewardship. Finding ways to save money, create an income and make wise spending decisions is one area of stewardship that will attract my focus. I also want to improve my stewardship of my time and of any talents that I might possess.

Healthy eating. I want to continue seeking ways to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into our diet while decreasing my use of processed foods and purchasing the best quality ingredients that we can afford.

Personal development. Dedicating time to reading good books, learning new skills and developing writing ideas need to take priority and not get neglected for other pursuits.

On what areas of your life are you hoping to focus in 2011? Have you set any specific goals for the new year?

  1. Love your word choice and goals for next year, Tracey! I just read another blog whose word selection was "worship". I'm still pondering the best word, but I'm leaning towards "sharpen". Not sure yet though. :-) Blessings to you as we approach the New Year!

  5. I love this list, Tracey!
I don't like "new year resolutions" - they seem to be something someone says and then forgets mighty quickly. 'Focus' is a good word. I also read on another blog the word 'goals' and I like that too - I think I'll 'focus' on some new 'goals'!!! :)
Here's mine: I need to finish some half-done projects, I'd like to create my first dress pattern, I'd like to work on implementing (and sticking to) a good exercise program just to try to be fitter (and hopefully overall healthier), I'd like to find ways to make a suplementary income, and like you, I'd like to find more time to read wholesome and helpful books, and try to become a better wife and mother (that one pops up every year!!)... Hmmm... that's probably enough to begin with!! :)

  6. I like your use of the word "focus" - it sounds much better than 'resolution' or 'goal'! I don't have anything concrete yet, but have lots of thoughts running through my head :) It will be fun to follow your blog this year to what how you grow!
