Peace and Joy at Christmas

The cookies have been baked, the presents wrapped, the stockings hung.

Anticipation permeates the air. The neatly wrapped boxes and tissue-laden gift bags await their recipient's touch.

Tonight we will gather on the couch, our minds and voices still as my husband reads aloud the familiar words of Luke 2. And amidst the hugs and kisses, the calls of "Good night, sleep tight!" and the warnings not to get up too early, my thoughts will wander to an image of a young woman in a crude stable, who so many years ago gave birth to a special baby boy.

May the peace and joy His birth brought to the world fill your heart today.

Merry Christmas!!
