I found a bit more time for reading in November!

• The Amish by Donald B. Kraybill, Karen M. Johnson-Weiner, and Steven M. Nolt.  This was a fascinating look at Amish life as it is today.  The book includes a brief history of the Amish, then delves into the different aspects of their life today and how they seek to live separately and simply in modern society.  This was a long book and it took me almost two weeks to read, but it was definitely worth it.  I've been to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, a number of times and appreciate the Amish culture and the beauty of the area.

• A Little House Reader:  A Collection of Writings by Laura Ingalls Wilder Edited by William Anderson

• The Burden Bearer:  Who's Carrying Your Load? by Paul W. Chappell

• Knit Together:  Discover God's Pattern for Your Life by Debbie Macomber

• Lion of Babylon and Rare Earth by Davis Bunn  These were interesting fiction books with plots that could have been taken from today's headlines.  Lion of Babylon was set in the Middle East and had an intriguing story line.

• Marred Vessels in the Potter's Hands by Beverly Hyles

My current read-alouds with my 11-year-old are Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne and Lillian Trasher: The Greatest Wonder in Egypt by Janet and Geoff Benge.

I'm thinking I may struggle to find much time to read before Christmas, but I've already started compiling a list of books I want to read in 2014!
