What Will You Do Today That Matters?
"All that will matter forever and ever in our heavenly state is the glory that came to God through our lives." Beth Moore in Believing God
What a sobering yet exciting thought!
God has given me this life, this day in which to bring glory to Him.
How thrilling to realize that it doesn't have to be in doing the "big" things. He just asks that I do what He puts before me today. And then, on top of that, He offers me the strength and the power to do it.
As I Corinthians 10:31 says, "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." Whether doing laundry, cooking supper, explaining math to my daughter, or grocery shopping, I can seek to bring glory to God through my attitudes and actions.
Living with eternity's values in view can cause us to make choices that will be pleasing to God. We'll invest more in people than in possessions, live spiritually instead of selfishly.
Let's do what matters today!
It's amazing, isn't it, that the "little" things are important to God?! Changing diapers, doing laundry, washing dishes, those things are important to God because that's what He's called us to do. And as you said, I can (and should!) bring glory to Him through my doing them. Thanks for the reminder and encouragement of something that is so contrary to what the world teaches.
