Winter Weekend at the Beach

Around this time each year, we head to Myrtle Beach for a quiet family weekend. You couldn't pay me to visit during the summer when it's unbelievably crowded, but late January or early February is the perfect time to go. Admittedly, the weather can be cold and a handful of activities or restaurants are closed for the season, but there are few tourists, hotel rates are very inexpensive, and it's a nice break to keep the winter "blahs" from setting in!

We spent a good bit of time at our hotel reading and relaxing.  We fit in a little bit of shopping - and of course, we had to check out a few restaurants!  We had Mexican food, tasty pizza, and huge, delicious burgers!  (Yeah, not such a good trip for the waistline, but I did walk on the beach twice!)

My 11-year-old enjoys collecting seashells, so she always joins me for my beach walks.

We got home in time last night to get unpacked - and I was able to get several loads of laundry done, too, so I have a head start on that today!

Hope you found a few moments to relax this weekend!  I'll be back on Wednesday to talk about my recent step outside my comfort zone.

  1. It sounds like a fun trip! One of the benefits of homeschooling: being able to go when everyone else is in school.

I had a well-balanced relaxing/productive weekend. It was very nice!

    1. Glad you had a nice weekend!! Wanted to let you know that I'm working my way through Randy Alcorn's book, Heaven, and I'm glad you recommended it. I was a little surprised by how thick it was when I picked it up at the library ;) but it's really giving me a lot to think about.

    2. I'm glad that you're enjoying Heaven! It's jam-packed with information, and it takes a while to read. I think it took me two months or more to read it. As my mother said, you can't read too much at a time because it's just too much. I think I read 1/2 to 1 chapter a day.

  4. I love the beach in the fall after the summer rush. We didn't get there last year, so I'm adding it to our list early now!!
