A few highlights....
- Sitting next to my husband on deck 10 in lounge chairs, both of us reading books (this was part of every single day - loved it!)
- Marcus and Mariann, our servers at dinner each night, who made our meals an enjoyable occasion
- Clear and gentle waters in Castaway Cay - and water slides for the girls to enjoy
- Beautiful weather all week
- Riding on a bus in the Bahamas - where they drive on the "wrong" side of the road
- Nightly turndown service with chocolates and towel animals
- My husband parasailing for the first time
- Realizing that snorkeling is not a water activity I will try again
- Being totally unplugged for four days - no cell phones, no internet, no television (except for the non-stop Disney animated movies that the girls watched from time to time)

ReplyDeleteWhat didn't you like about snorkeling?
Well, I'm not a good swimmer, and even though I had the inflatable thing around my neck, the thought of being out in water that was 15-20 feet deep was a little unsettling. Also, I couldn't really get the hang of those flipper things on my feet! It wasn't fun for me at that point, so I decided I'll leave it to the "professionals."
DeleteMy husband asked the girl who was showing us how to put on our snorkeling equipment what was in the water that could hurt us....and after hearing the list she rattled off, our 11-year-old was done!! My husband and our 13-year-old had a hard time because the masks wouldn't fill well with their glasses on - but without their glasses, there's no way they could see much down on the ocean floor!
I do think our older daughter will try snorkeling again at some point - especially if she had someone who was really qualified to instruct her on what to do. She loves the water and was a little disappointed that it didn't work out.
I would definitely recommend a cruise for a relaxing vacation. Some day my husband and I would like to do an Alaskan cruise, though it may not be until our kids are in college! :)
