If my life were written out like a book, you could scan the list of chapters, and they'd have titles such as the following: "Carefree Childhood," "College Years," "Elementary School Teacher," "Mom of Littles."
Less than two weeks from now, a blank page in a new chapter will begin to be filled. After being a homeschooling mom for four years, we'll have both daughters back in school full-time, a 7th grader and a 9th grader. Which means I'll be back to having a certain amount of time each day that I'll have to decide how to spend.
A new page in a new chapter can be intimidating, scary, and exciting all at once. Only God knows how that first paragraph will begin, how the sentences will unfold one after another, what the plot line will be, and how the chapter will end.
Perhaps you're facing a new chapter in another way as this school year begins...a child starting school for the first time, one going off to college, homeschooling for the first time - or adding another child to your homeschooling routine - or perhaps your children are attending a new school or you face a different family situation.
Many years ago, I shared the verse below with family members during a time of change and I find it so appropriate now.
"Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." (Isaiah 43:18-19)
Whatever "new" situation we're facing, God has a plan for us. We can trust Him to "make a way" when we feel lost in our wilderness, and, when we're overwhelmed, He will provide unexpected blessings in our desert.
Are you facing a new chapter in life?
I'm starting a new chapter, too, with my children. For one thing, I'm director of our CC campus, and that's been a lot of work. Also, my oldest is starting a new class of CC, so we'll be staying all day for her to do that. That will be new, too. And then of course, the new baby coming in about six months after not having one for four years! That will be new!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I could do it all, if I didn't know that God has a plan for me. Without that knowledge I wouldn't just be overwhelmed, I would be lost!
You do have a lot of "new" in your life!! Trusting that God will give you strength and grace for each one!!
DeleteTracey,thank you for this today. As you know, my comforting thought in these past few years is that this is a season of life - and the season do change. I can see how this new "season" the Lord has you in will be tremendously different from the other with all of it's new challenges,joys, and tears. But, as your brother Jason shared with us recently on a Sunday night, the best thing we can do is to embrace the season we are in. You will do tremendously in this new season, and will guide your girls and your husband into greater blessings! You all are in my prayers. Chris

DeleteI love this! Will starts Junior High on Monday... He's been so sheltered for so long, and "everyone" says THIS is where innocence is officially lost. I'm praying for God's protection, and for Will to keep coming to me with all of his honest questions.
