8 Bible Verses for Girls to Memorize

There are many lessons that I want our daughters to learn.  From practical skills like cooking and cleaning, to character traits like honesty and determination, I have the opportunity to instruct them in many areas during these formative years.

When it comes to their spiritual development, having them memorize Scriptures that pertain to specific attributes can be a masterful tool.  Here are eight verses that our girls can memorize and meditate on as they grow and mature in the coming years.

1.  Ephesians 4:32, "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."  Kindness should be the basis for how they treat everyone, from siblings to teachers, friends to strangers.

2.  I Peter 3:4, "But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price."  What a blessing they can be to others if our girls understand from an early age the spiritual value of a meek and quiet spirit.

3.  Proverbs 31:26, "She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness."  We all struggle with controlling our speech. This verse describes what good speech looks like in our every day lives.

4.  Proverbs 31:30, "Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised."  How I want my daughters to grasp the fact that, no matter their age, true beauty comes from within.

5.  Philippians 4:6, "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."  As women we often tend to worry, so it's worthwhile to teach our daughters to take every care to God in prayer.

6.  I Timothy 4:12, "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity."  Even as young people, our children can have a real impact on others.

7.  I Corinthians 10:31, "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."  Do every chore, finish each task, complete all your school work as if you were doing it for Jesus.

8.  Proverbs 15:5, " A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent."  While our children may not understand it, we as parents do truly want what's best for them.  God says they are wise if they listen to correction and instruction from their parents.

Bible memory is a great way to instill in our children's hearts spiritual truths.  In fact, it works well for us as adults, too!
