Be Still My Soul

I love new beginnings.

From a fresh start every morning to the first day of a new year, I welcome the chance to evaluate where I am and make plans for where I want to be.

Along with the excitement however, can come a tinge of apprehension, wondering what lies ahead.

As we step into 2013 today, I find the words of this hymn particularly comforting.

Be Still My Soul

Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side.
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In every change, He faithful will remain
.
Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heavenly Friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake
To guide the future, as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.

Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know
His voice Who ruled them while He dwelt below.

Praising the Lord for His blessings in 2012, thanking Him for His grace and protection, and looking forward to seeing His plan unfold for our family - and yours - in 2013!

  2. Amen and amen. Beautiful hymn, beautiful thoughts. The LORD is indeed good and has blessed us greatly. Far more than most of us even realise, probably! x Happy new year, my friend! x
