The Mother You Can Be

It is never too late to be what you might have been. ~ George Eliot

Perhaps, as a little girl, you always dreamed of being a mother, following in the footsteps of the Biblical Hannah, the inspiring Susanna Wesley, or the fictional June Cleaver.  Yet the actual process of mothering is often fraught with frustration, loneliness, chaos, and fatigue.

Yet children are naturally forgiving.  No matter what crisis arose yesterday, what messes you spent hours cleaning up, nor how short-tempered you were with them at bedtime, today presents an opportunity to ask forgiveness and begin anew.  The dawn offers a chance for each of us to have another try at becoming that mother we always dreamed of being.

  4. I am so glad that we have new days in which to start fresh. Some days I just feel terrible and wish I could take back time. What a blessing that God gives us the ability to start over again and again and again! :)

  5. What a refreshing and true post, Tracey! Thank you! I love how children, especially, have the amazing ability to be a living testimony of Colossians 3:13! Yes, I learn from them so often! =)

As the other commenters noted, that is one of my favorite quotes from AOGG too!
