ReplyDeleteBoiled peanuts are a southern delicacy! ;)
I've never made them - and had never eaten them until I married my husband. You typically buy them from roadside vendors or at local gatherings like the fair, flea market, ball games, etc. Basically they boil raw peanuts in liquid until they're soft and juicy. You usually eat them warm by pulling the shells apart with your fingers or biting them open, and the peanuts inside are soft - almost like a well-cooked bean. Sometimes they add cajun spices or other flavoring to the boiling water, which gives the peanuts a little more "kick."
You definitely should come South and try some! :)
