Saturday Salutes

Since we were traveling this week, my blog reading was somewhat limited.  I did, however, search for a recipe yesterday in order to use up a can of crushed pineapple that was in my pantry.  I thought these Pineapple Cookies were delicious.  (I used coconut oil instead of shortening and reduced the sugar by half.)

We had a wonderful time in Washington, D.C.  My husband and I enjoyed sitting in for a few minutes of Oral Arguments of the Supreme Court.  Touring the White House was a favorite for our girls and our ten-year-old said she misses riding the Metro every day!  While I have visited our nation's capital on several occasions, it's refreshing to be reminded of the principles on which our country was founded and to reflect on the character and intelligence of some of the great leaders of yesteryear.

A few more favorite moments in pictures....

Hope you have a great weekend!

  1. It looks like you had fun this week! I can't wait until my children are old enough to appreciate our nation's capital so we can take a trip up there -- a week of field trips!

  2. I grew up just 30 minutes from DC. We would often go down and just spend the day.
It's one of those things where you don't really appreciate it till your away from it.
    So much history and more..

Looks like you had a wonderful time.
    Blessings

  3. Looks like a wonderful time, and it appears the weather was great too! There's just something about getting an up close observation on our government and heritage that gives a glimpse into how our country was founded. The first picture especially, tugs at my heart, for all the sacrifice involved. So glad you and your family were able to learn and enjoy and visit some neat places!
