Learning Patience

This is a quote with which I can identify!  While I'm not currently battling temper tantrums, potty training, or sleepless nights, my patience is still frequently tested.

As mothers, we are constantly growing and learning right along with our children.  I find that just when I think I have a good handle on a particular stage of childhood, things change.  Perhaps sibling disagreements have diminished, but laziness is on the loose.  When disobedience seems to be under control, whining rears its ugly head.

I have come to realize how little wisdom I have and how much I need to seek it at the throne of God.  When the day has been long, I can say with David in Psalm 62:7, "In God is my salvation and my glory:  the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God."

I also find that discussing issues with my husband gives me a clearer perspective on the situation.  Since I am with our children all day, I tend to focus on the immediate problem, while he can see the bigger picture.

So, yes, motherhood does teach us a thing or two about patience....which helps us become better people - and Christians - in the long run.
